GYROKINESIS® is a unique movement system that while offering many benefits similar to yoga, dance, gymnastics, swimming and tai chi, transcends them with exercises that allow one to work on the entire body through seven natural elements of spinal movement: forward, backward, left side, right side, left twist, right twist and circular, as well as a variety of other joint articulations. Integrating fluidity and ease of motion with rhythmically undulating movements and breath, the GYROKINESIS® system gently and harmoniously works the joints and muscles, while simultaneously stimulating the body's internal organs.

Often referred to as yoga in motion, GYROKINESIS® is the mat work of the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM®. Taught in group class format, the curriculum is rhythmic and fluid, much like a dance or yoga class. However, unlike traditional yoga there is no postural holding, instead sequences and movements alternate between seated stool work, floor work, and standing work. Taught in 60 or 90 minutes sessions, students awaken their nervous systems, open energy pathways, and increase blood flow throughout the body, leaving class feeling a renewed sense of vitality.
